Recently I was watching a movie about the life of Jesus. It was very well directed and pretty accurate according to the Bible. I was amazed, at how people who were actually present when he was performing miracles, managed to misconstrue the situation and would still not believe. Thank goodness the work of Michelangelo exists to this day and is there for all to see. How could you describe the magnificence of his work, what words would have been adequate? Created out of a single block of marble, you have got to see with your own eyes, to appreciate the work of the world's best artist.
This man painted the Mona Lisa and the Last supper. I can't think of a better way to elevate yourself to world-famous, can you?
When I decided to do a painting of this statue, I tried to get as much information as possible, obviously, a lot has been written. I was absolutely amazed at the comments regarding the proportions. All serious artists produce works to the limit of their ability; Michelangelo would have been no different. You can be assured that what he created, was exactly what he intended to create, this man was an artistic genius, and the statue is a masterpiece.
